Join Bishop McKenna and Catholic Mission on a 7 Day Visit to Timor-Leste
You are invited to join Bishop Michael McKenna and Catholic Mission, on a seven day trip to Timor-Leste to participate in the Eucharistic celebration for the Opening and Blessing of the St. John de Brito Chapel in Timor-Leste, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2015.
The trip extends over 7 days and 6 nights, including a transit day and night in Darwin on the forward journey. All travel within Timor-Leste will be by 4-wheel drive vehicle. The group will return to Dili for the flight back to Darwin, with a connection to Sydney.
Those travelling with the Bishop will spend 4 days in the Parish of Laleia which is conducted by the Capuchin Friars. The PP (Friar Filipe) is Portuguese. He is also the project manager for the Chapel
Timor-Leste remains the least resourced church in the Federation of Catholic Bishops’ Conferences for Asia. Situated in Cairui, Parish of Laleia, Diocese of Baucau - in the central highlands of Timor-Leste - the Chapel has been majority funded through the generous support of the Bishop’s Annual Christmas Appeal for the Overseas Missions (2012-2014). Funds raised in parishes throughout the Diocese of Bathurst exceeded $130,000.
This is a unique opportunity and one not to be missed.
Please note; the number of participants is limited to eight people, including the Bishop, so please register your interest early to avoid missing out!
