Good Shepherd Sunday Appeal for our Seminarians

On 26th April this year, we observe the Fourth Sunday of Easter. The Gospel and prayers of the Mass focus on Christ the Good Shepherd. It is a suitable day to reflect on how the risen Lord cares for his Church in many ways, including through the ministry of priests.

This is also a suitable day to pray for the priests we have, for those who have gone before us and for those on the path of discernment and formation.

To this coincide with this day of prayer for our priests, The Good Shepherd Sunday Appeal for our Seminarians will be launched throughout the Diocese of Bathurst.

The attached flier has been prepared for compeletion and to forward donations in a number of ways listed on the flier. The flier will be avaiable at parish churches and from Catholic schools within our diocese.

Currently, we have five seminarians preparing for ordination as priests of the Diocese of Bathurst, with the cost of each young man’s education the responsibility of all Catholics in the Diocese.

The annual collection for the Education of Priests last year raised less than a quarter of the cost of training seminarians and providing for on-going formation of priests.

The Bishop encourages all parishioners and school families to take this appeal seriously and sign up to invest in the education of the priests who will serve our diocese in the future.

Thank you for your assistance with this worthy appeal.
