Changes to parish boundaries effecting Eugowra, Canowindra, Orange and Cowra.
On 1st July 2015, changes will come into effect that realign the parish boundaries of Eugowra, Canowindra, Orange and Cowra.
After consultation with parishioners and parish priests, the changes have been made to secure the ongoing pastoral care of the people of the region and will ensure the available resources are utilised in the most efficient and effective way.
The changes will see the parishes of Canowindra and Eugowra amalgamate with the parishes of Cowra and Orange.
In the case of Eugowra Parish, the Cudal township and surrounding rural area will be amalgamated with the Orange parish and the remainder of the Eugowra Parish, comprising Eugowra and Gooloogong townships and the surrounding rural areas, will be amalgamated with the Cowra parish.
In the case of Canowindra Parish, the township of Cargo and surrounding rural area will be amalgamated with the Orange Parish and the remainder of Canowindra Parish, namely the township of Canowindra and the surrounding rural area, will be amalgamated with the Cowra Parish.
Bishop McKenna said, "This formalises the arrangements for pastoral care of these parishes, which have been in place for the past couple of years".
Bishop McKenna expressed gratitude for the participation of parishioners and priests in ensuring that the reorganisation was done fairly and wisely.
