Final thoughts from the Synod on the Family
The Fourteenth Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops concluded on Sunday, 25th October 2015.
Archbishop of Brisbane, the Most Reverend Mark Coleridge was one of the two Australian Bishops representing the Australian Catholic Bishops Coference at the Synod on the Family.
Referring to the final address given to the Synod by the Holy Father, Archbishop Coleridge said “When Francis finished, the entire assembly gave him a standing ovation. This was heartfelt rather than some corny showbiz stunt. We felt we’d heard the voice of Peter”.
"The Synod journey is far from over; in some ways an important new phase is only beginning. But we are much better equipped ... this doesn't mean we have a detailed road-map; but Abrahamic journeys never do. They require instead a listening of another and deeper kind." writes Archbishop Mark Coleridge in his final blog post from the Synod.
Archbishop Colergide provides further insights on the outcomes of the Synod on the Family in his final post to his blog entitled "On The Road Together". Read the Archbishop's reflections HERE>
