Bishop McKenna's Christmas Message 2015
In the middle of the night, a child is born. In the darkness, there is a light. The light shines in darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it.
There is darkness in the world, we know. There is darkness in our own hearts, too. But this darkness is not as strong as the light of Christ.
In the first reading for Midnight Mass, the prophet Isaiah rejoices that “a people who walked in darkness has seen a great light; on those who lived in the land of shadows, a light has shone”.
In the dark, we live in fear. Only the light can chase those fears away. Let the light of Jesus come into your heart and, freed from fear, carry that light into the world.
May you receive abundant blessings from God this Christmas and next year.
