A message from Bishop McKenna on the death Mons. John Frawley
Our oldest priest, Monsignor John Frawley PE, died peacefully at St Catherine’s Nursing Home in Bathurst on Christmas Day.
He was a gentle, ardent servant of the Gospel, first as a Christian Brother, then as a priest of our Diocese, where his last appointment was as Parish Priest of Gulgong. He lived a fruitful ministry in retirement, until a severe stroke several weeks ago.
John will be remembered gratefully by many people whose lives he touched in over three decades of devoted priestly service. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Monsignor John will be celebrated in the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. John on Tuesday, 30 December at 11 am.
Yours in Christ,
Bishop of Bathurst
