Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Each year, in the time between the Ascension of our Lord to Pentecost, Christians are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (John 17.21). Hearts are touched and Christians come together to pray for their unity. Congregations and parishes across Australia and all over the world, exchange preachers or arrange special ecumenical celebrations and prayer services. In the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, we join together to pray for each other, our country and the mission given to each of us from Christ.

On Thursday 1st June, at the Cathedral of St Michael and John at 5.30pm, evening prayer will be prayed with a special emphasis on praying for unity between different Christian churches in Australia and around the world.

The Anglican Bishop of Bathurst, Ian Palmer, will join Bishop Michael McKenna for this time of prayer and fellowship.

All members of the Christian community are invited to be part of this time of prayer.
