Migrant and Refugee Sunday ~ "Like Jesus, forced to flee."

Pope Francis has chosen the theme, “Like Jesus Christ, forced to flee.”, for the 106th World Day of Migrant and Refugees, commemorated in Australia on Sunday 27 September 2020.

Migrant and Refugee Sunday is a time when the whole Church throughout the world celebrates the resilience and contribution of migrants and refugees to the Church and society. It is also a time where we bring awareness to the issues migrants and refugees face.

Due to COVID-19, thousands of people seeking asylum and on temporary visas in Australia, have lost their jobs or are relying on support for income, housing and food. We as Catholics are called to be in solidarity with our brothers and sisters through prayer, sharing their stories and action.

Included in the Migrant and Refugee Kit are stories from local communities, reflections and prayers to be used in preparation for World Day of Migrants and Refugees. The kit also includes a message from Pope Francis, and can be found HERE
