Urgent appeal to support suffering Catholic communities in Lebanon

The desperate situation in Lebanon since the explosion at the seaport of Beirut on 4th August 2020, has resulted in the horrendous economic, social and political situation.

The Catholic Church in Lebanon is now suffering tremendously, especially the Beirut Dioceses, where church buildings and institutions were damaged, some severely. 16 Catholic schools also sustained substantial damage caused by the blast.

The Lebanese community in Australia are most grateful for the compassionate response received so far from the Australian Catholic Church, towards the present crisis in the Land of the Cedars, and for the help to ease the suffering of the Lebanese people. 

The Melkite and Maronite Catholic Churches of Australia have established a joint account for the "Help for Lebanon” appeal, and request that those who can, generously contribute towards helping the wounded Catholic Church in Lebanon.
