On Monday, 14 April 2025, the Cathedral of St Michael and St John, Bathurst, was filled with the faithful from across the Diocese for the annual Chrism Mass. Bishop Michael McKenna blessed the Oil of Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick and consecrated the Sacred Chrism—oils that will be used throughout the year in sacraments and sacred rites.

The renewal of priestly promises was a moving moment in the liturgy, shared by priests newly ordained and those who have faithfully served for more than 60 years. It was a powerful expression of unity in faith, service and mission.
