As part of the Diocese of Bathurst’s celebration of the Jubilee Year 2025, the faithful are invited to take part in a special day of pilgrimage, prayer and community on Saturday, 1 November. This significant occasion, held under the Jubilee theme Pilgrims of Hope, invites all to journey together in faith and reflection.

The day will begin with the celebration of Mass at 11.00am at Holy Family Chapel, 225 Gilmour Street, Kelso.

This Mass will commemorate the first Mass celebrated over the Blue Mountains, a historic moment in the life of the Church in inland New South Wales. It offers an opportunity to give thanks for the faith, sacrifice and perseverance of those who carried the Gospel westward into what would become the Diocese of Bathurst.

Following Mass, those who are able and willing are invited to join a pilgrimage walk from Kelso to the Cathedral of St Michael and St John, Bathurst. This shared journey allows space for quiet reflection, prayer and fellowship—echoing the pilgrim spirit of the Jubilee Year.

Pilgrims will carry the Migrant Jubilee Cross, a powerful symbol of Christ’s presence among us and a reminder of our shared mission to welcome and accompany people of every nation and background in the life of the Church.

Once the pilgrimage arrives at the Cathedral, there will be time for prayer and quiet reflection. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will also be available for those who seek it—a chance to receive God’s mercy and renewal during this holy year.

The day will conclude with a shared sausage sandwich lunch, offered in the Cathedral grounds. This simple gesture of hospitality is a reminder that Christian fellowship is nurtured not only in prayer and liturgy, but around the table of community.

Jubilee is a time to deepen our faith, renew our commitment to Christ and rediscover the joy of the Christian journey. Whether attending the commemorative Mass, walking in pilgrimage, praying in the Cathedral or sharing a meal—this Jubilee Day is a chance to walk together as Pilgrims of Hope.
