On 9th December 2024, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst joyfully celebrated Ha Van Tran’s call to Candidacy for Holy Orders. The celebration was held at the Diocesan Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Carcoar at 11am, during the Mass for the Solemnity.

Ha publicly declared his willingness to serve Christ and His Church, surrounded by the prayerful support of Bishop Michael McKenna, numerous priests of the Diocese, and Fr Michael De Stoop, rector of the Seminary of the Good Shepherd. 

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception added another level of meaning to the celebration, reminding us of Mary’s perfect openness to God’s will and her role in bringing Christ into the world. Ha’s “yes” to God echoes Mary’s faith and trust, inspiring all present to renew their own commitment to discipleship.

We give thanks for Ha’s response to God’s call and extend our prayers for his continued formation. May the intercession of Mary, our Immaculate Mother, guide and strengthen him as he moves forward toward the priesthood.
