The Cathedral Catholic Parish, in partnership with One Voice Mobile Showers and United Spark Disability Services, is bringing a mobile shower service to Bathurst to support people experiencing homelessness, hardship, or housing insecurity.
The One Voice Mobile Shower Truck will provide free, warm, private showers in a safe and welcoming environment, offering more than an opportunity to freshen up – it restores dignity, connection, and hope within the local community.
The purpose-built shower truck features private cubicles with basins, mirrors, hooks, instant hot water, and fresh towels that are supplied and professionally laundered. Trained volunteers are on hand to welcome guests, offer a friendly chat, and help connect people with other local support services.
“To quote the founder of One Voice, Josh Wilkins, a shower isn’t just a shower,” said Liz Syms, General Manager for United Spark Disability Services. “For many people, it’s the first step back to health, dignity, trust, and hope.”
Why the service matters in Bathurst
Access to hygiene is a basic human right, yet many people in the Bathurst region go without it. Regular access to clean hygiene helps prevent infection and illness, reduces pressure on local health services, and enables people to attend appointments, seek work, and re-engage with the community with confidence.

A community-led approach
By hosting the One Voice Mobile Shower Truck, the Cathedral Parish is helping create a hub of compassion and connection in Bathurst. Working alongside United Spark, the Parish will support collaboration with local organisations and businesses to ensure the service reaches those who need it most.
United Spark will manage local volunteers and coordinate the truck’s operating locations. The service will operate regularly at various sites across Bathurst, with locations shared through local services, media, and the Parish website and bulletin.
“This is faith in action,” said LIz. “It’s about real human connection and standing alongside people doing it tough.”
Volunteer and make a difference
The success of the One Voice Mobile Shower Truck is dependent on volunteers. The more volunteers, the more often the service can be provided to those most in need.
“Everyone is invited to the launch on Saturday 28 February 2026 at 10am at the Cathedral Carpark where you can see the truck for yourself and talk to our team about volunteering,” said Liz.

One Voice was founded by Josh Wilkins after he spent six months living on the streets of Melbourne to better understand the realities of homelessness. He discovered that the greatest barrier people faced was not hunger, but the loss of dignity without access to a shower.
