Why?

Imagine your life has been completely up-ended. After many years of living life on your own terms, suddenly you are unable to do everything for yourself, and you need to accept constant help from others. Or maybe, as you get older, your spouse has died, your children and grandchildren are far away and friends are few and far between. There are more years behind you than ahead of you.

This is the reality for many residents in nursing homes and aged care facilities. The Nursing Home Ministry aims to provide the comfort and consolation of Christ to residents through spending time with residents, listening to them, and praying with them. Nursing Home Ministers remind residents that they are beloved children of God, that they are valued members of our parish community, and that their concerns are valid and shared.

Who are you?

Nursing Home Ministers are compassionate people who are willing to walk with nursing home residents, regardless of their physical and other infirmities, and are willing to bring the love of God to others in a way that is specific to the person and their faith journey.
