Why?
Christ calls us to welcome others, just as He welcomes us.
First impressions matter. The experience of parishioners and visitors is shaped by the welcome they receive when they enter the church. Welcomers are the friendly faces of our parish for all.
Who are you?
Welcoming is a “front of house” role: you need to be comfortable around people you may not know.
Friendly
Friendly and outgoing to all who approach our doors
Active
Active in parish life and able to either answer queries or direct people as needed
Committed
Willing to commit to a roster and meet time, training and dress requirements
Why?
Sometimes it can be difficult to break into a social group at Mass. The hospitality team extends fellowship through social occasions outside Mass. This includes regular gatherings after Mass on the 2nd Sunday of the month, as well as at other times.
Who are you?
We need all kinds of people on the hospitality team. Let us know, or speak to a team member after Mass.
Friendly
Happy to chat with anyone, and to introduce people to others
Foodie
Cook/bake/supply food and/or serve food and drinks to others.
Set up / pack up helper
Set up and pack up tables and chairs
Why?
We can’t just stop at welcome. For those who are new to our parish, or even those who have been here for a while, Connectors help people connect with the people, programs or ministries they need to grow in their faith as part of our community. Connectors help people to make friends at church, direct people to Alpha or other programs to help them grow in faith, or direct people to a ministry that suits their gifts and talents.
Who are you?
If you want to get to know people at a deeper level, be more active and across what our parish has to offer, then this ministry is for you.
Friendly
Happy to chat with anyone, and to introduce people to others
Active
Active in parish life and able to answer specific queries about ministries and programs
Committed
Willing to commit to ongoing training and formation, and to being involved outside of Mass times
Why?
Our Parish Pastoral Strategy Team identified that there is a need in our parish for lay-led men’s faith-based fellowship. The Men’s Ministry was formed to encourage men to gather in a faith-based context, to make friendships and to empower men to lead their own fellowship.
Who are you?
If you are a man and want to help lead other men in fellowship, then this ministry is for you.
Leadership
Willing to lead other men and work with parish leadership
Team
Willing to work as part of a team and to invite others to participate in mens ministry
Friendly
Happy to chat with anyone, and to introduce people to others
Helping
Willing to help with event planning and set up/pack down
Why?
Word and Faith Groups are our parish’s ongoing small group fellowship. Word and Faith Groups are simple meetings with Christ, who is the Word of God present in the scriptures, speaking to the lives of those who gather to listen and share what touches them. These groups gather on a weekly or fortnightly basis, pray with the scripture for the upcoming Sunday, and socialise.
Who are you?
If you wish to facilitate others in prayer and socialising, this role is for you.
Leadership
Willing to lead a small group in prayer and socialising
Prayerful
Active prayer life and willing to prepare prayer sessions in advance if required
Friendly
Happy to chat with anyone, and welcoming to everyone who joins the group
Committed
Willing to commit to ongoing training and formation, and to a weekly or fortnightly commitment outside of Mass times
