On Sunday 29 June, the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, parishes across the Diocese of Bathurst will join the universal Church in supporting the Peter’s Pence Appeal.
This annual appeal expresses our solidarity with the mission of Pope Leo, helping to fund charitable works that bring assistance to the most vulnerable around the world—those affected by poverty, conflict, natural disaster, displacement, and marginalisation. It also supports initiatives promoting peace, education, and integral human development.
Peter’s Pence is more than a financial appeal; it’s a gesture of communion with the Holy Father and the worldwide Church. The Vatican describes it as “an offering that may be small but has a profound symbolic value: it expresses love and trust for the Holy Father … a tangible gesture of closeness”.
A short video from the Holy See explaining the mission and impact of Peter’s Pence is available to view here.
To make a contribution, you can donate online via our Diocesan website or scan the QR code available at your parish.
Let us continue to pray for Pope Leo and all who serve the Gospel throughout the world.
