The Diocesan Safe Church Awareness Workshops, SCAW are key to continual improvement in our Ministries and Safeguarding training and awareness. All are invited and encouraged to attend, whether in parish ministries, in a school, as a parent or a carer. Everyone is welcome to join in these workshops to help keep our communities healthy and safe. A safe church is everyone’s responsibility. The protection of children and vulnerable people matters in our Christian community, because they matter to God. Compassion and desire for justice are part of God’s character. God has a special concern for the poor, the marginalised and the oppressed and Jesus identifies especially with the little ones (Mt 25:40).

So, when you see a SCAW advertised, know that it is your invitation to join your community and help all areas of our Church’s mission and renewal to be as safe as possible.
