The Southern Region of the Diocese gathered in a spirit of joy and friendship on the Feast of Christ the King, 23 November, for a spirited soccer event that brought together young people and parishes from across the area. Hosted by Orange Parish, the day provided a way to celebrate the solemnity of Christ the King while strengthening regional connections.

Parishes represented included Orange, Bathurst, Cowra, and Oberon. The day had a lively, welcoming atmosphere — and even a few priests couldn’t resist joining in on the field!

In a closely contested final, Bathurst Parish claimed victory, defeating Orange Parish to become the overall winner.

Gratitude is extended to all organisers — particularly those who first proposed the idea. There is strong hope that this may become an annual event, drawing together different regions to celebrate faith, community, and the joy of being united in Christ.
