On a brisk and cool but joyous day, hosted by the Lithgow Parish and Fr Reynold, SRE Catechist Parish Coordinators from across the Diocese gathered to share insights and discuss their ministry in our state schools. The event was marked by laughter, camaraderie, and a deep appreciation for the vital role of Special Religious Education (SRE) Catechists in parish life and for students in state schools.

Throughout the day, coordinators exchanged stories and strategies, reflecting on the impact they have made in students’ lives and envisioning future endeavours. It was clear to all gathered how important SRE Catechists are, bringing faith, hope, and joy to children, helping them to encounter Jesus in a real way.

Becoming an SRE Catechist offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the community. They provide religious education, foster spiritual development and create a nurturing environment for students to explore their faith. It is a rewarding ministry that enriches both the lives of the children and the SRE Catechists themselves.
