TWO NEW PRIESTS TO BE ORDAINED

Bishop McKenna will ordain Deacon Diep Quang Nguyen and Deacon Thao Van Nguyen to the priesthood on 28th January 2022, during 6pm Mass.

Please keep these men in your prayers in their final preparation for ordination.

Both newly ordained priests will celebrate a Thanksgiving Mass in the Cathedral on Saturday 29th January - Fr Diep at 9.00am and Fr Thao at 11.30am. Refreshments will be available in the Parish Centre following the 11.30am Mass - all welcome.


CLERGY APPOINTMENTS 2022

Bishop McKenna has announced the following Clergy Appointments for the New Year:

Father Dong Van Nguyen will be appointed Assistant Priest to Dubbo and Gilgandra Parishes in February 2022.
Fr Diep Quang Nguyen will be appointed Assistant Priest to the Cathedral and Blayney Parishes, following his ordination on 28th January 2022.
Fr Thao Van Nguyen will be appointed Assistant Priest to Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos Parishes,  following his ordination
on 28th January 2022. 

We also bid farewell and thanks to Father Mathew Humstoe, who will return to the Diocese of Kohima after Christmas. Fr Mathew has served in the Cathedral Parish; in Orange and Molong; and in Dubbo and Gilgandra during his time in the Diocese of Bathurst.  Bishop McKenna said "Father Matthew has brought the joy of the Gospel to many people; and we will remember him and his friendship with great gratitude both to him and to Bishop James Thoppil, who allowed him to be here these past three and a half years".

SYNOD OF BISHOPS 

Catholics across Australia are invited to participate in a period of local consultation for the next international Synod of Bishops, which has the theme: “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission”. The People of God are invited to use a guided, prayerful reflection method to consider a series of questions and make submissions via an online portal. Those submissions will help the Bishops develop a national report to support the global process leading to an international gathering in 2023.  MORE>

POSTPONEMENTS

Sadly, due to the ongoing Covid situation, a decision has been made to postpone the sesquicentenary celebrations at St Patrick's Church, Rockley, until a date to be advised in 2022.

The Sesquicentenary celebrations for St Raphael's Parish, Cowra have also had to be cancelled, until 2022 - date TBA.
